Ciarrai Conlan, Head of Media and External Communications at the Department of Finance, was today announced as the new chair of the Northern Ireland Public Sector Communications Forum.
Ciarrai will bring her fifteen years’ experience in communications to the Forum which aims to build skills, establish partnerships and support public sector communications.
Ciarrai’s appointment comes as the Forum unveiled their new programme for the autumn.
Commenting on her appointment, Ciarrai Conlan said:
“I’m delighted to be appointed chair of the Forum. I would like to pay tribute to the outgoing Chair, Chris McNabb. During his time as Chair and under his leadership the Forum has gone from strength to strength.”
“Whether you are just starting out in your career, or you’ve worked in it for a while, the Forum gives you a great opportunity to network with like-minded people and build your skills.”
Ciarrai made special mention of the Forum continuing to deliver its programme of activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key to that activity was the delivery of the inaugural Northern Ireland Public Sector Communications certificate, providing a formal qualification in public sector communications, accredited by the Government Communication Service, delivered entirely virtually.
Speaking about the future of the Forum, Ciarrai said: “Today we have announced a brilliant programme of activity for the coming months and I encourage all public sector communicators to get involved. Whether it’s developing new skills in digital accessibility, content creation or learning from the lessons of those around you, the Forum is there to inspire and empower.”
